You know those recipes that look all fancy but actually take like ten minutes and almost no effort at all, Well guess what these Easy Turtle Bars are exactly that kind of magic.

I first made them on a rainy Saturday when we had absolutely no plans and we were seriously craving something sweet. The kids were bouncing off the walls while the dog was chasing a sock as if it owed her money so it was total chaos which is why I figured let’s bake something. I wanted something easy and something chocolatey and of course something with caramel because let’s be honest caramel makes everything better.

And wow let me tell you I didn’t expect them to disappear that fast but they totally did.Here’s a little tip from me to you don’t cut them while they’re still hot because I learned that the messy way and trust me it’s better to wait.

Oh and by the way no judgment if you eat them straight from the pan because I’ve definitely done that too.

How to Make Easy Turtle Bars :

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F “175°C” and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper. This will make it easier to remove the bars later and in a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are evenly coated.

Step 2

Press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust. This will serve as the base of your bars then sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the crust. These will add a delightful crunch to your bars.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the pecans. Use a spatula to spread it carefully, ensuring all nuts are covered and drizzle the caramel sauce over the condensed milk layer. Try to cover the surface as evenly as possible.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the caramel. If you like, you can also melt the chocolate slightly in the microwave and drizzle it over for a smoother chocolate layer then optional: sprinkle a small pinch of sea salt over the top to balance the sweetness.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the chocolate is melted and the edges are slightly golden finaly allow the bars to cool completely at room temperature before cutting into squares. For cleaner cuts, chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
